Very well located
The cheaper rooms are very uncomfortable. They could be more spacious..

As vegetarians and vegans, we appreciated the breakfast options with free bagels, fruits, and beverages. The hostel's central location made it easy for us to find supermarkets and restaurants for our dietary needs. The kitchen was well-equipped and not overcrowded, allowing us to prepare our own meals.
Felt like home, no reason to complain.

The best thing is the very good location. Small piece with minimal but sufficient comforts.
Basic breakfast with little variety. In my case I only consumed coffee since I eat reduced carbohydrates and there was no such option, for example eggs would have been good for me.

Well located, comfortable room, large kitchen
Breakfast has few options

The location of the hostel is excellent, as it is right next to Union Square and across from a convenient parking garage. The staff is friendly and helpful, and there are daily activities for guests to enjoy. The rooms have USB ports, powerpoints, and lights on the bed frames, making for a comfortable stay. The hostel also offers luggage services after check-out, allowing guests to continue exploring the area.
Some guests mentioned that the linens had a musty smell and the carpets were in need of replacement, which affected their overall experience.

The location was great, right on Union Square! It was clean, equipped like on the photos, we had a double room with own bathroom. Staff was friendly and helpful.
It was a little loud, but there were earplugs ready in the lobby. . The breakfast was good in itself, but it could be a bit more varied, but there are refrigerators where you can store your own food.

Solid and comfortable bunks, good location and pleasant common spaces
I missed a sink in the shared room

The location was perfect, just a 5-minute walk from Powell Street BART station. The staff was helpful and welcoming, and the hostel accepts cash payments. They also provide luggage storage until 10 pm on the checkout night. The free breakfast had eggs and fruit, and the kitchen was well-equipped with pans. The room was clean and had a twin bed with an ensuite shower and toilet. There was also a fan and space heater available if needed.
Felt like being home, no complaints.

For breakfast there was not only toast with peanut butter like in any other hostel. There were also bagles with cream cheese and fruit

The staff. They helped us with everything. They checked us in early and didn't give us a better room than the one we had booked which was also cheaper.
The elevator is very old

My partner and I stayed at Hi San Francisco Downtown for five nights during our vacation. The location was fantastic, just a stone's throw away from Union Square. The staff were incredibly friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. One of the highlights was the delicious and varied breakfast that was provided each morning. We loved the fact that the hostel prioritized sustainability, reusing water for flushing toilets. The cleanliness of the hostel was also impressive, from the rooms to the common areas. a great experience!
Totally recommend this hotel.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location of the hotel was convenient with great transport links. Additionally, there was a 24-hour store nearby for any necessities.
The room had a strong smell and was not clean. The carpet and walls were old and dated.
